Welcome to my webpage. I'm a writer of many stripes, freelancer, aspiring novelist, short-story writer, and other types as well. I'm interested in a wide range of subjects, among them environmental issues, social reforms, and the educational system, and research is one of my favorite activities, whatever the subject. I enjoy digging out information and using it to build a larger picture in which to situate the subject under discussion. I believe in investigating solutions, not dwelling on problems, and I have a positive outlook on life and people, although I don't deny the limitations of either one.
The environmental issues that interest me range from a focus on organic food, with a subsequent discussion of genetic engineering, to alternative power, i.e., solar, wind, fuel cells, etc., to environmental architecture and more. Social reforms attract me, too, particularly as regards to teenagers and their fostering and adoption and mentoring. And an interdisciplinary background in education drives my fascination with the educational system and how it works, as well as any content I offer to educational websites.
Pets are another interest of mine, since my own offer endless ideas to write about, and other pet owners are a consistent audience for my work. I never lack for inspiration in this area, and since other interests of mine often overlap with this one (i.e., traveling with pets, green products for dogs, etc.), it is usually easy to find ideas.
Writing skills, in and of themselves, are also a focus of mine. How-to articles are drawn from my own ongoing novel writing and from my background as a high school writing teacher. As well, I've been a technical editor for an amateur press for fifteen years, revising grammar, punctuation, and working on issues of plot and story as needed.
My goals down the road are to work with teens, perhaps those who are homeless on the street, perhaps earning a second masters in Counseling. My novel writing is something I will never leave behind, and my freelance work promises to be a long-term committment as well. In addition, I would like to work as a researcher for teachers or professors who could use my services, and to read YA books for publishers or book clubs or the like. If anyone's interested in my services, please feel free to email me!
